I’m only human

Feeling a flurry of emotional frazzle and frenzy,

an anxious angst of exciting

ants-in-pants,

moment of reminiscence –

Memories meant to remain

part of the past.

Pictures of people, places

and pleasurable pastimes,

asking for acknowledgment

and acceptance –

an affirmation of existence.

An undeniable and unvarnished truth arises –

an uneasy and awkward affliction

of having something and having lost it.

Slowly surrendering

to the surge of sadness sweeping through me.

Yet a self-healing will emerge.

Solace will follow.

And — beyond any doubt,

moving forward will be feasible.
