Things don’t happen for a reason.

We make up a reason

for if and why it did or didn’t happen, then this or that would be different.

For the longest time I’ve always been a believer in things happening for a reason.

Well — not anymore.

Things happen.

We may not know why at the time.

But when we look back on the event with a clearer mind than before, we start to make up a reason for it happening the way it happened.

We give meaning to the event.

We put it into context.

We justify its happening.

I suppose that’s okay.

But perhaps we need to choose our words carefully and not continue to say that things happen for a reason.

That we all have a destiny that needs to be fulfilled and that there’s some kind of road mapped out for us.

Because there isn’t.

We make it up.

We’re making it up as we go along so that we can create what –

some kind of order within our chaos?

We are not a victim of a circumstance.

We have the ability to respond –

We are “response-able,”

to decide how we react

to “unfortunate circumstances,”

and situations that we have no control over.

It is within our control to manage the feelings that surface when we play a “victim”.

So no more victim roles, ever.

Less reactive and only pro-active roles.

This is me attempting to never blame the external, ever again.

This is me constructing a new paradigm for myself.

Watch me change

or watch me fail.
